Membership

Membership in the Rogin is an agreement with the unit to fight and camp with the Rogin at battles we attend and to fight according to our oaths. Fighters are free to come and go as they please, no oath is laid that a fighter will stay in Rogin for any longer than they wish.

    • Requirements

Circumstances can turn anyone into an outcast, rebel or outsider; as such we have no character, race, garb or weaponry restrictions. We do ask that your character have at least a basic back story to explain how he or she is among the Rogin and why they use the gear they use. With membership comes the responsibility to assist in unit affairs. Things like setting up tents and maintaining a clean camp are every member’s duty, further expectations are detailed in the policies section.

    • Oaths

Do you swear to obey the heralds and to follow all the rules of Dagorhir?

Do you swear to respect other player’s persona choice?

Do you swear to avoid political infighting and to play the game for your enjoyment and the enjoyment of all?

Do you swear to fight according to your character’s traditions and without fear?

    • Ceremony

When a fighter has acquired basic passing garb and at least one melee weapon the fighter takes his oaths and is given the Sentry rank at the next event or practice. He is treated to a small ceremony and presented with a token of rank. At least 5 Rogin must be present to induct a member and hold a ceremony.

Policies

These policies are guidelines for battlefield and camp behavior.

    • Campsite

Maintaining a clean campsite is the duty of each member. Clean up after yourself and assist in setting up and breaking camp. Assist in the gathering of fire wood and food preparation.

    • Scenarios

Follow the rules of a scenario. For example, if the heralds call for a chaos/free for all battle then do not avoid combat with Rogin. Some units encourage members to only attack other units when a free for all is called. This kind of thing goes against our oaths about following the rules and obeying the heralds. Attack any living fighter on the field as you would any enemy.

    • Drinking

If a member chooses to not drink alcohol on a campout there must be at least one other member who will not drink. The idea of this is that an underage fighter or one who chooses not to drink will not feel alone or isolated at events.

    • Food

You are responsible for supplying your own food. The chieftain will provide a simple ration of food for members. This will be a bare essentials ration, something like bread, cheese and water. Gallons of water will be brought but more water is better. If you want to coordinate with another member for food you can.

    • Head hits

If a member of Rogin accidentally strikes someone in the head they are expected to see if the fighter is ok and if necessary help the person off the field. Consider yourself responsible for the fighter’s health until he/she is put in more capable hands or until the fighter insists that they are fine. Do not interfere with other fighter’s headshots unless the victim is in serious danger and nothing is being done to help him/her.

    • Honorable conduct

Character honor is up to the individual. The Rogin have no unit wide restrictions on such practices as backstabbing, hidden weapons, recognizing honor duels, etc… Game honor however is a part of our oaths. Actions like taking your hits and not faking in game wounds will be strictly enforced.

    • Politics

Real world politics should stay at home. Were all out fighting and camping for fun, politics will invariably stifle that fun.

    • Punishments

If a member breaks the rules of the game or causes a problem they will be penalized. A complaint should be brought to the ranking member. The ranking member should consult the parties involved and make a decision. The penalty can range from a warning, sitting out a scenario, to, in cases of repeated conflicts and violation of the oaths, expulsion from the unit.

    • Sleeping arrangements

Members are responsible for arranging their own sleeping arrangements. Whether you are sharing a tent with someone or if you are bringing a private tent you have to plan it out ahead of time.

    • Travel

When traveling on an overnight campout members are expected to pitch in for gas money and other driving related expenses.
