Claws

A Claw is a subgroup of Rogin. Its members want be a part of Rogin but seek to have some of their own autonomy or are separated from the main army by large distances. They may earn ranks and be nominated for merits. Members of a Claw may have a more uniformed appearance than the rest of the unit and may have their own command structure but they must follow the commands of the primary Rogin leadership.

A good example of a claw would be a group of fighters who wanted to portray Hoplites and have their own enforced garb and weapon standards and their own authority system for its members. In character terms they could be the last of a decimated Hoplite army that that came upon and assimilated into the Rogin. Claws are good for fighters who have a specific theme in mind but without the network or the manpower to run their own unit. Claws are expected to still adhere to the general unit principles, they are still a part of Rogin and have taken our oaths. A Claw must have a minimum party of three fighters to be given Claw status. Claws may wear an additional belt flag with colors and/or symbol of the Claw.

  • Rising Tide

Leader: Gellius Telesinus

Based out of Souderton PA.

Rising Tide is a band of brigands made up of displaced enemies of Rome. Latins, Celts, Greeks Turks, whoever the Romans have subdued, some stubborn members of that societyjust wouldnt accept defeat and submit to Roman law. They have banded together to fight a new kind of war. Wizened by their previous attempts to defy the Romans in straight fights, They have not targeted the formidable and expendable leagions of Rome, but instead they now strike at the empire's lifeblood, trade. Wandering the Balkan Penninsula the Rising Tide hit the lightly armed merchant convoys passing through the countryside. The raiders show the merchants all the mercy and honor Sulla showed the Latins in the Social War. With the proceeds of their brigandry, the Rising Tide enlist the aid of mercenaries, thereby increasing the effectiveness of their band. When their numbers swell large enough, the Rising Tideraid one of the many border garrisons holding romes enemies at bay. The raiders bear light equipment, the better to carryout the swift raids on the poorly defended convoys and subsequently melt away. Thus, without ever coming in direct confrontation with the enemy, the Rising Tide see themselves as contributing to the rising tide of entropy against which even the might of Rome itself cannot long stand.

  • Soldiers of Athlum

Leader: Bain of Rogin

Based out of ...PA.

In a land to the west of the Taurendorian Forests, the Kingdom of Athlum stood.  It was a small, but proud kingdom, whose king ruled justly and fair.  Dark times, however, crept over the land.  The King’s brother took the throne when the King died, though it was widely whispered through the Manor Lords that this usurping of the throne was through deceit and murder.  One lone manor lord spoke out against this new king, and for that, he earned the respect of those still loyal to their former lord.  This angered the new King, and he sent his armies to crush this Manor Lord.  Those still loyal gathered to the Manor’s aid, to oppose this army set against them.  The battle did not go well.

Those loyal to the fallen King were crushed quickly and harshly.  The general, in a last moment effort to save his troops, flung himself at the enemy, in order to give what little remained of his forces time to escape.  Those soldiers did indeed flee, but many were hunted and cut down after the General’s demise.  A small band ran deep into the forest of Taurendor, and was pursued for three days without respite.  Late on the third day, they lost sight of their pursuers, and sat to rest under a large old Oak.  A mist rolled in, and cooled their tired bodies.  The few remaining saw a shadow in the mist.  They had heard tales of wild blue-faced men who wandered the lands… Barbarians they were know to be.  These “wild men” were also heard to appear with the mists.  Their fears became fact when they saw the figure clearly, a kilt-wearing man with blue on his face.  He wore heavy leather armor, and carried many weapons, and looked at the tired soldiers, gasping for air under the tree.  It was in that moment that their pursuers found the quarry they were after.

The soldiers were too tired to even draw their weapons, and thought themselves doomed, until the pursuers ordered the barbarian out of the way by pain of death. That barbarian replied by drawing two swords, and challenged the five pursuers to leave his land under penalty of death.  They laughed and charged, only to be cut down.  The soldiers saw the prowess of this unusual dual-wielding fighter, and asked for food and shelter, in exchange for their skills and weapons.  The barbarian agreed, and thus the alliance between the Soldiers of Athlum and the Rogin Clan was forged.

The Soldiers of Athlum now find themselves counted amongst the numbers of the Rogin Clan, those dispossessed “wild men”, the Barbarians of Taurendor.  They hope to one day re-claim their former lands, and to raise their army, their banner back upon the Castle Athlum. Until that day dawns, they fight with the Rogin, and Rogin they remain.
